The C aeolian mode consists of the C (Perfect unison), D (Major second), D# (Minor third), F (Perfect fourth), G (Perfect fifth), G# (Minor sixth) and A# (Minor seventh) notes.

How to play the C aeolian mode

  1. Find C (Root) on the piano keyboard
  2. Play D (Major second) — 2 semitones above C
  3. Play D# (Minor third) — 3 semitones above C
  4. Play F (Perfect fourth) — 5 semitones above C
  5. Play G (Perfect fifth) — 7 semitones above C
  6. Play G# (Minor sixth) — 8 semitones above C
  7. Play A# (Minor seventh) — 10 semitones above C
  8. Play all 7 notes in ascending order to perform the C aeolian mode
