The D locrian mode consists of the D (Perfect unison), D# (Minor second), F (Minor third), G (Perfect fourth), G# (Diminished fifth), A# (Minor sixth) and C (Minor seventh) notes.

How to play the D locrian mode

  1. Find D (Root) on the piano keyboard
  2. Play D# (Minor second) — 1 semitone above D
  3. Play F (Minor third) — 3 semitones above D
  4. Play G (Perfect fourth) — 5 semitones above D
  5. Play G# (Diminished fifth) — 6 semitones above D
  6. Play A# (Minor sixth) — 8 semitones above D
  7. Play C (Minor seventh) — 10 semitones above D
  8. Play all 7 notes in ascending order to perform the D locrian mode
